TCF Fights Legal Battle To Stop Elimination of 6 HMAs in Nevada

The “Zeroing Out” of a Herd Management Area (HMA) is one of the most terrible acts the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) can take against wild horses and burros.

It’s an act of horrible cruelty against these iconic animals because of its finality. To rip their own land from them, tear families apart, and say they don’t have the right to exist on their own Congressionally-designated land is the epitome of injustice

But they can’t fight back. So we have to do it for them.

Since 1971, the BLM has confiscated nearly 40% of the original land dedicated to wild horses. Millions of acres, where they used to run free are now unused, except, of course, by private interests.

The BLM is trying this again with 6 HMAs in Nevada called the Caliente Complex. And The Cloud Foundation is fighting this with everything we’ve got. We’re the only wild horse advocacy organization standing against this action right now, and we’re footing the entire bill ourselves.

This lawsuit has so far cost over $50,000. And it isn’t nearly over.

Our legal team is optimistic about our chances of winning the appeal, and if so, we take the fight back to the Nevada courts!

WE MUST PREVAIL. Over 2,000 wild horses stand to lose their home, family and freedom, so we can’t let this go without giving it all we’ve got.

We must keep speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves. Today, on Giving Tuesday, we come to you with a very specific and special request.

PLEASE HELP US SAVE CALIENTE.

Fighting the Federal Government is like a battle between David and Goliath. But we will fight to the death for the right of these animals to live wild and free on their own land. And we know you will too.

Please make a donation today to support us in this battle. Let’s show the BLM what Americans can do, together.
