Earth Day Celebrates A Milestone

Today marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. We have only one Earth and we must protect her. Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin agreed, and was so disturbed that this important issue was not addressed in politics that he created the first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970.

Celebrating and protecting our beautiful and diverse planet is something we should do every day, and wild horses and burros are a part of her wonder and majesty.

During the COVID-19 shutdown, pollution levels have dropped and air quality improved. This shows we have the capacity to turn things around - if we act now.

The same holds true for our wild herds - together we can stop the inhumane mismanagement of these American icons and create win-win solutions that the majority of Americans want.

We are honored to walk this path of protecting our wild horses and burros with you

As we see the sun set on this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, please remember that each and every one of us makes a difference. As a fitting culmination of this day, we'll leave you with some inspiration and wisdom from the father of protecting our environment, John Muir.

"When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world." - John Muir

"I am losing precious days. I am denigrating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains to learn the news." - John Muir
