It's time for another Pryor Profile! This month we are featuring the lovely Belle Star - the full sister of Cloud's father, Raven.
Born in 1993, Belle Star was a beautiful bay mare who lived in the Lower Sykes/Dryhead area of the Pryor range overlooking the Bighorn Canyon.
As Raven's sister, she was also the daughter of the sorrel stallion Hercules and the black mare known as The Old Mare.
Belle Star's son Hickok and his band are fondly known as the "Greeters at the Gate" by many who visit the Dryhead. His hard-to-miss deep bay coloring always stands out among his band!
Some of Belle Star's other foals include the following horses:
Greta - Ginger calls Greta "One of the wildest mares in the Pryors." Her father is most likely Starbuck.
Polaris - Belle Star's 1997 filly with the elusive stallion, Froggie! Polaris was a longtime companion of Cloud's mother, Phoenix. She died just last year in early 2023.
Mae West - This Freedom Family beauty was born in 1998! Ginger thinks that she is likely a Froggie daughter, too. She was rounded up with her band - including band stallion Trigger - in 2009. Along with some of her band members, she was adopted by TCF and became part of the Freedom Family.
Belle Star's story is woven into the intricate history of the Pryor herd and Cloud's family. Her legacy lives on in her offspring -- on and off the mountain.
