As We Come To The Close

Another Year in the Trenches on Behalf of America's Wild Herds

2021 marked the 50th Anniversary of the Wild, Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act.

It SHOULD have been a banner year for these federally protected animals; instead, it was a year of trauma and tragedy

Our work, here at The Cloud Foundation, was more challenging than ever.

Fighting the U.S. Government is a David-and-Goliath battle -- they have the funds, the power and the discretion to "interpret" the law to their own benefit.

At times it seems hopeless. BUT -- let's not forget who WON that biblical battle.

History is full of the stories of those who have prevailed against nearly impossible odds.

The "how" and "why" of it is simple -- 1) because they never gave up and 2) because they where fighting for what is right and true.

Friends, our fight is NO different. Our cause is just. Science and truth are on our side. And we are never giving up until the animals we all cherish are free to live out their lives in the wild as the Act states --

"...protected from capture, branding, harassment, or death..."

All of our work, all of our programs, everything we do is to make that future a reality.

Our team is gearing up for BIG things in 2022.

We invite you to join us in this new year, as you have in the past, as we renew our commitment to protecting and preserving America's wild mustangs and burros.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Cloud Foundation team

Continuing the Fight To Preserve America’s Wild Herds

The Cloud Foundation team works day in and day out to secure the future of our treasured wild horses and burros. Here are just a few of ways we've done that this year.

Educating members of Congress

Most legislators hear only from the BLM and livestock lobby. We MUST overcome the BLM PR machine and teach our legislators that wild horses and burros deserve their fair share on the range.

Legal Action

Last year we fought to stop the wipeout of Nevada's Caliente horses, at a cost of over $60,000. Sadly more and more, the law is skewed in favor of government agencies, giving them "discretion" to "interpret" the Act and how our herds are managed. We MUST rebuild our legal fund so we are ready to fight in the courts when we can.

Rescue Efforts and the Freedom Family

Just last month TCF assisted the Center for a Humane Economy and Texas Miracle Ranch in rescuing 14 innocent wild burros in the slaughter pipeline. Every day we care for our rescued band of Pryor mustangs. We've made a life-long commitment to keep them safe. TCF is not a rescue, but we are proud to step in to help where we can when lives are on the line.

Opposing Government Actions Against Wild Horses

As Americans, we have the RIGHT and the DUTY to participate in our government. The importance of this cannot be understated. The will of the People IS and ALWAYS has been the driving force behind social change.

We need YOU to speak up, take action, submit public comments -- we would not ask if it didn't matter -- it does! And we are committed to making it quick and easy for you to raise your voice.

Field Work

TCF founder Ginger Kathrens has worked tirelessly for 3 decades to educate the public about wild horses. She and the TCF team are in the field every month, documenting the Pryor mustangs and herds across the West. TCF is committed to fighting for fair allocation of forage, repatriation of captured horses to zeroed-out Herd Areas, humane on-range management, and protecting natural wild behaviors (no sterilization) for ALL our wild herds.

Supporting TCF is easy - please consider giving a small amount monthly or a one-time donation to support this on-going work, as well as new projects in 2022.

Thank you for fighting with us to protect and preserve wild horse and burros families everywhere!
