Pryor Mustangs Under Attack
Oppose BLM Plan That Would Destroy The Unique Pryor Herd As We Know Them
Ginger Kathrens, founder of The Cloud Foundation, has for 27 years documented the interesting and complex lives of wild horses living in the Pryor Mountains. Documenting generations of individuals, family lines, social bonds and natural "wild" behaviors has been the cornerstone behind America's love affair with wild horses.
Now all of that is in jeopardy for the Pryor herd.
The Resource Management Plan amendment currently being finalized will dictate the future of these horses for decades to come.
Horses we know and love will be captured. Families will be destroyed.
Currently, the BLM's plan for the Pryor herd requires management of the herd to ensure genetic bloodlines -- which in turn helped to protect genetic health. Now the BLM plan sets the stage to destroy genetic bloodlines, remove more than half of the herd which will cause inbreeding due to the small size of the population, and destroy natural social behaviors by having more stallions than mares in the population increasing stallion aggression over a small number of mares.
The BLM needs to hear how much the Pryor herd means to all of us!
